Are you looking to move more? Do you struggle to find motivation, or the time to fit exercise into your daily routine? Keeping active is essential to keeping healthy, and does wonders for your energy levels and concentration. And, most importantly, it can be great fun!
How much should we be moving?
This February the The Australian Department of Health released its latest research, in the Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines for healthy adults:
“Accumulate 150 to 300 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity, or an equivalent combination of both moderate and vigorous activities, each week”
The guidelines also quotes some scary statistics - nearly 70% of Australian adults are either sedentary or have low levels of physical activity – almost 12 million adults.
In her TED talk, Nilofer Merchant even declared sitting as the “smoking of our generation”.
