A Lifetime to Cusco

I have just returned from the holiday of a lifetime to Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley in Peru. Machu Picchu has been on the top of my “bucket list “ for a long time and this year with your help I achieved my goal. Earlier in the year you ran an advertisment for “The Magical Journey “in Peru …a Yoga Retreat with Tiffany Brook, an Australian Yoga instructor, living in Hawaii….much to my delight I signed up and then reality hit!!!…..To enjoy this adventure I needed to increase my fitness and flexibility and balance….I needed to push my body and I needed support to do it.
I used Springday to coordinate my exercise programme to prepare for the Journey. I set about creating my own programme on Springday and sticking to it.
I needed Yoga instruction (as I have never done it before!!!.) Springday provided me with the name of Yogabowl and I started “gentle’ classes with Mitch…I loved it and it is now part of my post Machu Picchu, Springday weekly exercise programme.
I have always been a Pilates “junkie” so I continued my sessions with another Springday connection …..”Leon and Shaw”
Adding to flexibility, strength and balance I needed to increase my aerobic fitness and strengthen my legs in the “great outdoors” to prepare for the altitude and the difficult terrains of Peru, I needed hills and stairs :Off to Awaba Hill and the Barney Kearns stairs twice a week with some of my walking friends (who are Springday members.) (perhaps Kosciusko would have been a better choice !! )
Springday motivated me to work hard, but it also encouraged me to have rest days, eat correctly, reduce alcohol intake and drink more water…all essentials for the human body in Cusco and Machu Picchu.
